3.73 gears
How much am I looking at with the gears and install? Also, will there be a whine with this gearing and how much does it effect mpg, then do i have to have anything recaliberated like speedometer, odometer, etc.?
Depends on how good the tech is! I paid $500 parts and labor by an SVT Tech at my local Ford dealer. Might be a bit on the high side, but it was done right.
No gear whine at all and there should not be if set up right.
Maybe 1 MPG @ 60 MPH.
Your speedo will need a recalibration for the new rear gear. You can do this witha SCT2 through the OBDII port. Simple to do, but the programmer will cost you. Not sure what they are going for, maybe $300+??? I got mine as part of a package with my C&L CAI and three custom tunes installed (87 / 89 / 92 octane).
I also adjusted my new tires rev's per mile. Between adjusting for my 3.73 gears and very slightly difference in tire height of my new tires, I am now within 1/2 MPH @ 60 MPH as compared to GPS. Close enough for me!!

Paid $388 in labor at a Tuffy shop my fellow local Mustang club member owns.
I supplied the FRPP gears, rebuild kit (axle bearings/seals/diff clutches/bearings,shims,etc...) and the Mobil 1 lube, +friction modifier. The only hitch was the axle bearings and seals in the kit were too small, must have been for the old 28 spline axles, but he picked some up @ Ford for $22.00.
Adjustment in the SCT tuner is a snap.
Mileage has picked up a tad (21.9 averaged @ 46mph over 15+ tankfuls) since I never used 5th on roads doing 60-62mph and now I do, same for in town @ 45mph I now can use 4th without bogging it. So in all I'm running lower rpms than before, plus it is much quicker than before.

There IS an improvement from the stock 3.55 ratio and it would be even more from the 3.31s that come stock on the '07s. Of course, the higher you go, like 4.10 or 4.30 it is MUCH more noticible, but the justification for spending the $$$ to go to 3.73 from 3.55 is subjective. Depends on how you want your car to react. With the blower I prefer the 3.73 over the 4.10s, I've had both, but this is just my preference. Others swear by the 4.10s, some prefer the 4.30s. Just do your homework, ask around, and then choose. Keep your stock gears in case you want to revert back.

FOUR OF THE MOST IMPORTENT RULES:
1. Find a local installer who has had experience installing gears in a Mustang GT!!!
2. Buy Ford Racing Gears only because they do not whine if installed correctly!!!
3. Don't worry so much about the price (gears and installation) because it pays to get it done RIGHT!!!
4. Buy a good tuner so you can adjust the calibration to your speedometer...
