I believe the ceramic coating is more for insulation, not rust prevention. By keeping the exhaust hot, it moves out quicker. If it cools, it slows down.
More importantly than keeping exhaust gases hot (they are already a couple hundred degrees and they WILL cool in the pipe before they exit the muffler anyway)....Ceramic coatings keep underhood temperatures down...which helps prevent heat soak...which helps keep intake temperatures down and keeps the air more dense....

Yes you could install the long tubes with your pypes off road x pype. It's metal...you can do with it what you want. It'll take some cutting and welding and repostitioning of the rear o2 bungs but it can be done. I thought about going that route but desided i wanted to put cats back on the car so i bought a new xpipe with the headers.

This is not much of a concern on the S197. Once the car is moving beyond about 10 MPH, the underhood air temps are within a degree or two of ambient anyway. The coating would only help with heat soak when you are at a standstill.

Not to mention it is still redundant with stainless steel. A proper alloy of stainless like 304 will keep the underhood heat down as well.

You are right on the motion, but the heat soak usually sets in when in the staging lanes where even if you push the car through, you generally have the hood down and the heat from the still hot headers will start to warm everything up...plus at some point you will be doing some idling in line....

More than likely the difference in hp lost from heat between ceramic and a good SS alloy is probably neglegible(sp?)

However for those that want H-pipes w/ LTs your pretty much resigned to having to to JBA and get the ceramic (both for heat and corrosion)...
