Default Child Seat Advice

I need some advice on getting a new child seat. I'm 5'11" and my 2.5 year old is using a Recaro child seat right now and he's very squished. I'm wondering if anyone could recommend a seat that might fit better? The Recaro has a pretty thick back, mostly because it's expandable, so maybe something thinner?

He has to sit behind me because I'm going to be putting our new born behind the passenger seat soon.

Thanks,
BlackNoir

How big is he ?

For my boys, I use a booster with no back that uses the cars 3pt belts.

This one...

I gave a 7yo that is 4'2" and 63lbs, and a 4yo that is just over 40lbs.
Have not yet tried it in the back of a Mustang (still working on gtting one) but we use them in all our cars, they are easy to swap.

Cost $20, with two cup holders

He's under 30 pounds and only 2 1/2 years old so a backless booster won't work.

Problem is, I don't have a Mustang. I have an Audi TT which is even smaller. I was hoping to move to a Mustang before our 2nd is born but if I can't find a seat for my current son which allows him room to sit behind me I'll have to get something bigger. It's only for short commutes, we have a Jeep for long trips, but I'd still like him to be comfortable..

ackk.. so frustrating.

Would you really want cheerios and baby vomit on the floor of your nice new mustang? designate the jeep as a kiddy car.. and when your son wants to go for a ride, position the car seat in the middle of the two seats... my girlfriends 3 yr old loves sitting in the middle, its the most comfortable for her... she gladly trades off cheerios for the cool exhaust

There ya go.
Good for 30 lbs
Has the same base but with a thin back. Still uses the 3pt belts, and comes in a bunch of colors.
Converts to a backless when he gets bigger too.

We have a jeep for the long trips with the kids as well...
