Heavier shift knob for Hurst?
I actually enjoy man handling the Hurst around sometimes but I've been thinking a heavier **** might smooth throws out a little bit. I had put a monster **** (12oz) on my old BMW shifter and it made a world of difference.
Any options for the Hurst shifter out there?

I have the chrome plated steel T-handle. It feels plenty beefy/solid. There are also aluminum T-handles that quite a bit lighter, but I agree with you about the feel. One downside--try grabbing one of these in the summertime when the car has been out in the heat...ouch!
The only way to mount the chrome one is to use the universal SAE kit and select the proper insert (3/8x16??).

For the Hurst owners out there: quick stupid Question: I just got mine and haven't installed it yet. If I hold the shifter, I can move the small shift handle in every direction freely. Is that normal?
I had a black billet Hurst pistol grip on mine for a few months.
I took it off a few weeks ago to avoid the 2nd degree burns on my palm now that temps are hitting 80+ and put the white queball back on.
Was suprised at the weight difference between it and the queball that came with the shifter (dunno why I didn't notice this when I put it on last fall).
And yes, it did make the 1st to 2nd shift much smoother and I was able to avoid my hand from slipping when banging into 3rd at high rev.
But I got to thinking - mebbe having that added weight combined with the increased length from the fulcrum (longer stick, increased linear height from the pistol grip, etc.) on a shifter without stopbolts may not be such a great idea.
So I'm gonna stick with the queballuntil someone who's much more familiar with physics and the internal stopbolts on the T-3650 advises the billet pistol grip is fine - or I find a composite/carbon fiber pistol grip.
