Default headers question

What would be a good set of headers for my 06 gt with C&L/SCT 2 , flowmasters?
1) Shorties or long tubes and what kind? Not sure what the sizes are for.
2) How much gains would I be looking at?
3) Price?
4) How much louder would it be?
5) How much of a pain in the azz would it take to install?

Looking for more HP gainswithout getting a supercharger. Any other suggestions?
Thanks all!

Depends...Shorties don't do much more than stock manifolds. LT's might not be allowed in your area depending on Emissions but do give a performance improvement.

Not sure of the 05+ models but the 99-04 models, the automatic V8's were a bear to get LT's onto. Some went so far as to lift the engine a couple of inches to get the header in there to begin with.

Louder? not much, that's more dependent on the rest of the exhaust.
Gains on stock GT with LT, maybe 5-7 (4-5 rwhp). Shorties, 1-2 hp at teh wheels if that.

Price, no clue

Default RE: headers question

I have American Racing LT's w/high flow cats, w/xpipe, with a C&L CAI i got over 25 HP......From what i understand shorty headers dont do much for HP and are not worth the price. I'm in Ca and my LTs are illegal but whatever I LOVE THEM!!!!

Price wise American Racing LTs are about 1500 give or take......Shorties never really looked at prices
LT sizes 1 5/8 or 1 3/4 i went with 1 3/4 because i will be S/C soon.

Loudness depending on what midpipe and muff you go with

Install is tough on LT about 5-8 hrs could be more if its your first time......I had a shop do mine took them 5 hrs

I have shorties, and not satisfield. Just ordered kooks l/t price is around $1300.00.
It will be afair amount louder, depends on your axle backs.. Good 1/2 day, poss one whole day for install. a guess on hp is 5 to 8

L/T's are good for more then 5-8. Fireguy was right on. You should get good gains Thurman because of your cams and TB.

shorties are not even worth the money...performance wise they are non existent. I have kooks LT with catted x pipe and I had some good gains from them when I had them with my CAI...now with the SC even better..as far as install and timing...it could take as long as 10 hours depending on your tools and skill level to install. be choosey with your headers...dont buy down due to price...because with that your quality suffers as well...The best LT out there (IMO) are the American Racing and Kooks....I hear some people like the dynatechs but heard of issues with them for SOME people. some headers I have heard require you to change motor mounts....my Kooks did not...remember you pay for quality and get what you pay for....dont go cheap on the headers...

I just had my car tuned with a C&L CAI, and JBA long tubes, and catted midpipe. I dynoed 292 hp, and 308 tq on a 93 octaine custome tune. The headers did make alot of difference in the sound. I was surprised how much louder it was. At first I didn't like it, but it's grown on me.
