3M taped louver install
I just got my quarter window louvers painted and was wondering just how strong this 3M tape really is. They are attached with 1/4" stips that don't go all the way around (three strips along each length). It's relatively cold here right now (55F in south Texas) so I was wondering if I should wait for it to warm up to install them and also how exactly to do it. I was thinking pull back enough of the backing to get it past the edge of the louver, then positioning it and pulling the rest of the backing off with it in place. Does this sound right?

i dont have them but from what ive heard you'd be surprised by how strong this 3m tape actually is, many products use it as a fastener with good results , and that procedure sounds about right to me

Ya you got it right. Use a good cleaner on the surface for the tape to stick well. Not sure if yours stick to glass or painted surface but the surface prep is like an alcohol base. Call the company you purchased from to get the right prep. I heard this was the most important part of the process. Plus warm weather.

They stick to the glass, and I was told that only an alchohol prep was needed for this. Bonding to to paint means buying a seperate adhesive promoter (at least that's how I understand it).

the window scoops i bought recommend installing when it is 72 degrees F or warmer... or using a hair dryer to warm the surface before pushing the tape down. so i've been waiting all winter...
i'm not saying all of them are like that, but no one had commented on the temp yet...
