Ford rates the HP at 300 but I know most stock GT guys were getting numbers between 285 and 300.
260 to 270 @ the wheels on a dynojet.

Autos are slightly less than the manuals also. A mustang dyno would be considerably less than 260-270.

I know the a s s in the avatar is something, gotta love it.

Thanks for the quick feedback guys.

The second part to the question was :

( Sounds like it was a good decision to spring for the GT with a V8)

As far as stock cars go, how does the 2007 GT V8 Auto trans fair against other sport cars out there. I ask as a newbie to sports cars when something pulls up next to me at a redlight. Not that I would try & race on the streets or anything but just to hear feedback from you guys that know........

Don't concern yourself too much with the horsepower number. It's all about 0-60 or 1/4 mile times!
I have an '05 GT Premium Auto and I can walk through almost any parking lot saying, "I can beat that, that, that, that one too...".
Just don't ask me to take any corners! An auto won't downshift so you gotta hit the brakes and then punch it, hoping you don't spin out.
