Default Bare V6 Deluxe upgrade?

Hey guys, just got back from local dealer, and finally decided to order a pair of Mustangs! Torch red for me, Vista blue for the old lady, both 5 speeds. Had to go this route, because they could not findeither car within our region, or in the next closest one. The told me that even if they could, the out of state pickup fees would eat into any discounts they give, plus, I'd have some options on the car that I really don't want, since they have not been able to find one configured exactly how I want. I have a strange question here though. They have two deluxe models on the lot, one in each color, but of course, some options are missing from them compared to the premiums I configured. Mainly, the side impact airbags, and the ABS/Traction control. There was a guy asking about his power seats with airbags and how much they weigh, which got me to wondering if I could use them in a car that didn't come with them. If so, what about the power and heating harnesses and wiring? Also, is it possible to add the ABS/Traction control afterwards? If a carcame with it, and it needed to be fixed, they could replace the system, so do you know if it could just be added in to a car that never had it? I know all of this sounds impractical, but I'm sure I could do the seat thing myself, just not sure about the ABS thing. The reason being, I wouldn't have to wait for the cars for 6-8 weeks, and the bigger issue, those cars have been on their lot for a while, so I could get a better discount. Give me some feedback, especially those of you with a lot of technical expertise. Thanksguys!

Hmmmm sounds like all that initial discounting will bite you eventually if you decide to add the TCS/ABS in the future. As for the side airbag issue, maybe the dealer can help you on this?
Not sure if aftermarket take-off specialist deal with the side airbag seats(liability issues). You can add
heated seats yourself(check previous posts concerning that issue). IMO it would be wiser to try and get
a car with at least the TCS/ABS and side airbags already installed(maybe $1,500 more?). Good luck.

On the V6, it's a $775 option, that right now costs $0 because of the 20A package discount. The SAB are a $380 option that you have to pay for if you've selected the ABS discount, because you can't have both. My earlier posts deal with the confusion caused by the multiple discount thing, which I've squared away as of now. The ABS is the most expensive option that you can discount anyway, so I'd rather get that free and pay for the others out of pocket. I'm definitely not looking forward to adding something as complicated as ABS, I'm just wondering if it can be done. I may be able to find the parts on a junked Mustang online. Does anybody know where I could find a wiring diagram for the car, or at least for the factory power/heated seats? I don't really mind waiting two months for the build, I'm just wondering how much true out of pocket I will be looking at if I take one of their old age units off the lot and try to add what it doesn't have. What's the consensus?

Also.. wouldn't the insurance savings for a car with ABS offset the cost? Just curious.. my insurance went up when we bought a Mazda 6i base that didn't have ABS.

Yeah, that's the other reason I want it, ABS and SAB will be great discounts on the car. I may be willing to go up to a GT deluxe in order to make it easier to find one, and I'll still be able to get the comfort group, without having to get the Shaker system I'd be ditching anyway.

Great,.... BUY a new Mustang and look for adiscounted ABS system from a junked Mustang, then add them to the new Mustang, reprogram the computor, and hope everything works correctly, until you slide into someone's **** end, and expect insurance coverage.
Aren't you the guy with Minus $7000 equity on 2 cars? and now you're buying 2 Mustangs ? and you're worried about paying for ABS/TC ? Switching seats and airbags ?
There's stupid. There's cheap, and they usaully go together

Yeah, that $7000 comes from both cars being traded in, so I decided to go 2 for 2 instead of 2 for 1, to help grease the wheels as far as what they would give me for trade allowance. If you don't have anything constructive to add, maybe you should keep your opinion to yourself. If you had been paying attention, I never said I had a problem paying for the ABS/TC, I was trying to find out if I could add it on, due to cars on the lot being available right now without it, that I know for a fact they'll discount more heavily because they've been on the lot forever. They even let me know that to my face today, that they'd be more flexible if I took something out of their stock on hand, which I totally understand. Plus, they tried to give me the song and dance about my Hondas depreciating between now and the time the ordered cars show up, which would be 6-8 weeks from now, saying it could be anywhere from $500 to $1000 each car. I'm not too worried about the Honda values going down that fast, so I know they were posturing and it was a tactic, so I just want to know if countering that by taking something off their lot right now will force me to not have something I really want in the ABS/TC option. Hell, I may be able to find the assembly for it brand new for a reasonable price, so you never know. The seat issue will be much easier to resolve, I believe. I just need to find someone who's looking to get rid of their power/heated seats to save weight for track times, not hard to accomplish on this forum I think. So far, almost every time I've asked for help here, I've gotten a straight, reliable answer, even if it took a while, and I don't even have a 'Stang yet, so for the most part, the forum members have been super cool and helpful. I just hope the dealers don't rob me of the chance to join the community in full...

BTW gtucker4, are you gonna do the transformation to both cars, or just yours? Maybe get the a Deluxe GT as mentioned and a base V-6(heavily discounted) since the GT's have TCS/ABS standard?
You seem to know what you'd like to have. My suggestion? Wait them(dealership) out, those cars will be there later on, if you seem desperate(I'm sure you know this) they'll sense it and make idle threats.
Stand your ground and one way or the other you'll feel good when all is said and done. Good luck(again[8D])
