GT500 clone
Hey guys, I thought this was pretty cool. Not so much that it was done, because there are a couple of you that have done it yourselves, but that the dealership did it, and on a V6 for that matter! I think the GT500 decals are mighty poser, but the kit itself is interesting...

For you guys that have already taken that plunge to convert your cars, were you able to find out what the dealer cost for those parts were? I'm wondering if I could talk my dealership into doing this, and adding some 18" black bullit wheels, in lieu of haggling over more discount when the car arrives. I've also been looking at some 18" Konig hotswap wheels, black with red spoke inserts, but I don't know if I could have them order and install those for me, and I'm sure they already have some of the Ford racing black wheels on hand.

I'd buy it...if it was really $25K. I doubt they'd sell it at that price. It'd be a steal with all the mods on it. But personally, I like the look of the Shelby so I don't mind if it isn't a real one and I'm paying the price of a modded V6 or GT instead hehe.

It looks like the swapped all body parts, and probably added the lowest cost dual, or true dual exhaust they could find, then put the chrome tips on it. The stickers are lame, as is the cobra badge. I used to hate when guys would drive GTS-t or GTS-4 Skylines, and put GT-R badges on them when we were stationed in Japan. Japanese racers hated it even more...then proceeded to smoke the fakers!

The decals and badges make this car a bit too much IMO. I don't like it one bit because somekid is going to pull up next to it one day in his Civic and beat it and give us all a bad name. Hell I'd say I beat a GT500 if I pulled up next to it and raced it. Ha Ha. Now that would suck!!!!

That's exactly what I just told my wife! I'd never front like that, I'm just curious, because I think it's cheaper for the dealer to add Ford parts to the care with little to no mark up, in place of them discounting the car itself more. Pertano, did you pay dealer cost for your parts, or did you have to pay retail?

I know! The only parts I like from the GT500 are the vented hood, and the front end. Just looking at those alone so far, you could get a whole other aftermarket kit and spoiler, maybe more. Not sure what the dealer invoice on that stuff is though. I see a few Mark III conversions here, so maybe having them order the Konig's isn't too far of a stretch after all?
