Had a local repair shop (reputable) give me a quote for installing 3:73's on my '05. Parts and Labor for $975. Is that kinda' steep? Have no idea what it should cost.

I have the auto as well. Breaking them in now, but from what I can tell I'm gonna luv em. Had the Roush pulley upgrade done at the same time so it's hard to keep babying the gears for now.
I had a bad experience with the Motives I originally bought. I had expert installers, and they could not shim all of the noise out of them. I know, I know, Motives are fine, as long as they are installed properly. They thought so too. But this set just would not cooperate. We finally went with the FRPP's and called it a day. In my mind, why take a chance, just buy the FRPP's, especially if you are installing 3.73's. If you go to the FRPP site, you can see that they have a special machining called Face Hob for this particular gear. Apparantly, 3.73's are the toughest to get right.
Just my 2 centavos.

My install cost was $180. had 4.10's first then went to 3.73's, of course the install is labor only, just add the price of the gears and royal purple fluids and that's what I paid. Done at Mustang Magic, Deer Park NY
i was faced with the same problem but my shop was gonna charge me a grand for everything then i asked what it would cost if they just put them on for me and he was a dick and said he wouldn't even do it [>:]
