Default Shifter ****

Ok, this is a very embarassing question, but how the heck do I take of my factory shifter ****? I'm wanting to change it and need to know how to take it off first...LOL. Please, no laughter...LOL!

Slide the shift boot down, it will pop off easily.
(There is a ring holding it up).
After that, unscrew the ****.
(lefty loosey, righty tighty )

Thanks guys! I was so afraid to push down on the boot. It should go back up easy and into place right?

I haven't bought one yet. I think I'm going to go with a chrome ball, trying to be more retro.

I am post #20 in this link: https://mustangforums.com/m_2905529/tm.htm
I couldn't find my older thread on this subject.
Anyhow, I went a similar route.
I recommend you contact Bruce Roosa at: http://www.koolknobs.com/
I helped him design the boot adapter, which should work for you.
Hope this helps.

Be careful with a metallic ****.....from what I have heard from others on these forums, they can get HOT HOT HOT during the summer months!

Good Luck

I have the metal shift **** and hate it. I'm looking for a leather one, but they don't exist! Ford Racing has one, but not w our thread. Same with Razo. Ideas?
