HELP! I think a piece fell off of my intake.. i dont know what it is called*pic*
So I am driving my 05 GT.. when all of the sudden at about 40mph it cuts out on me and says failsafe engine mode. I noticed that a piece is MISSING off of my intake now.. I don't know what it is called or what it even connects to. I included a picture.. if someone could help me identify what it is and what I need to do.. the car right now sits and cranks and will not fire.
I didn't abuse it in any way and it only has 14k miles on the car. It is a salvage title but it has run fine for the past 4000 miles. i changed the oil about 500 miles ago and have cared for her since I got her.
I circled the piece I am talking about that is missing! Please help me ID

Not sure but looks like some electronics for your throttle body. Is there an electrical connector attached? You may need a new TB.

okay under further investigation, i found the damned thing.. it was still connected to the wire.. apparently the screws fell out of the throttle body and the thing just fell off.. i fastened it and she runs now

both torx screws backed out, i went to the hardware store and got some short screws to secure it in place.. no problems now.. but bizarre

Someone was asleep at the factory that day and forgot to tighten the screws. The dealer probably should have caught that with the pre-delivery inspection but I admit that loose TPS screws is not something I'd think to check for. Glad you got it fixed.

I would also throw some lock tight on them. Those are usually on pretty good when I have to replace them at work.
