AIRBAG QUESTION???
I have had my STANG since Jan 30/07, I have never noticed the pass airbag off when the seat is empty before?? I am sure it never was, When someone gets onto the pass seat the airbag light off goes out, this isa only since my 85 pound 10 year old daughter was in the car today, So my question is am I nuts or DOES THE AIRBAG OFF LIGHT STAY ON WHEN THE PASS SEAT IS VACANT? AND GO OUT WHEN PASS ON SEAT??[sm=dontgetit.gif]

RE: AIRBAG QUESTION???
There is a weight sensor in the seat, where if the passenger doesnt weigh a certain amount (I believe its 100 lbs) then the airbag turns off, and the light will come on. When there is nothing in the seat, the airbag should be on, which means the light should be off. There is also a minimum weight, not sure how much it is though... so if you put something in the seat, like a bag, then it wont register enough weight to turn the airbag off.

RE: AIRBAG QUESTION???
You should check the manual; it is related to weight of the passenger. I remember reading somewhere that if the child is under?? They should sit in the rear seat to avoid neck injuries caused by the airbag. I am sure your daughter is somewhere around the weight range that triggers the sensor.

RE: AIRBAG QUESTION???
No, my light is off all the time unless someone underweight rides and then the passanger airbag off light will display. The first time I saw the light was when I put my laptop in the front seat and I saw the light on. I went to the manual to see what was up I read what the deal was.

RE: AIRBAG QUESTION???
That was the way mine used to be untill today when my lightweight daughter sat in it. Now the light stays on?? Unless I sit on it, then it goes out?? Go figure[sm=WTFsgign.gif][sm=WTFsgign.gif]

RE: AIRBAG QUESTION???
Dunno what to say. I had someone lightweight sit in my passenger seat, light was on. Been off at all other times, when the seat is either empty or enough weight is there to enable the airbag.
Take it into the dealer maybe?

RE: AIRBAG QUESTION???
My wife, that I thankfully got rid of, weighed 100lbs. When she rode in the car, the light would go on and off, depending on how she was positioned. She was right at that threashold weight. It is a saftey feature to help prevent injury to children under a certain size. If you are under a certain weight and the bag deploys, you stand to have a greater chance of serious neck injuries. Smaller people are not high enough to meet into the center of the bag when it deploys. It will instead ride over their head shoving their cervical vertabrae at an odd angle, and with a hard and quick force, incresing the chance of injury. My father had a truck with a manual switch to disable the bag when children were up front. Now it's all automatic
