I have an 05 GT with the shaker 1k and havent had any problems with the battery (knock on wood).. the radio is left on all the time... but mine is a daily driver so that could explain it.

Yeah, how does the Shaker drain the battery exactly? Even if you leave it on when you shut off your car, and it keeps playings when you take the key out, it turns off as soon as you open the door, so the power to it is cut, isn't it?

My 07GT works just like that, it is not a daily driver, I travel a lot and at best I drive it once a week, never had a dead or weak battery so far. it is either a problem with earlier models or as pointed out before you guys mighthave something draining the battery.

hey stanman, i agree with you. a battery should not go dead for weeks if it is parked and not driven. dont know what the problem is with some of them but i remember somewhere on here an article was written about the shaker 1000 drawing some small amount of power even when the car was turned off. dont know how that was possible but that was one factor that was brought up. but more than one person on here have had the problem arise. shouldnt have to hook up a battery tender to a new car. but if someone wants to do that, thats fine.

I must agree, this is the 21st century. Ford has to be able figure out what is causing the "Dead Battery" syndrome. I have been lucky too, but mineis a daily driver. I have started shutting off the radio when I park the car. If I go away for a few weeks I expect the car to start up when I turn the key. My last car (Grand Prix) I could leave 6-8 weeks while away on business and not even give it a second thought about starting right up. I understand the guys who have had problems getting a battery tender, but that is just putting a bandaid on the root cause of the problem.

Well, this same problem just happened to me this past weekend. My car is not my daily driver and I was gone from Sun-Sun....I got in the car, tried to start it, and it sounded very weak. She did turn over finally, but my clock was blinking 12:00.....I had nothing on since she is not a daily driver....first time for this problem. I'll be keeping an eye on this for sure.

Come on Ford, you guys are better than this!!!!

I would check to make sure you don't have the dreaded water leak on the passenger side....it could be there and shorting something in the SJB/GEM module out and drainging the battery....

If you have the Shaker 500, pull fuse F16 from the fuse box under the hood on the front passenger side. It goes to the Sub-woofer amps. See if that helps. It did for me.

I went 18 months before my battery went out...and I drive it everyday....but I do live in Phoenix and 2 years is when you can expect to get a new battery....hell even the Optimas only last in the 3 year range out here....120+ does things to batteries....so I'm not thinking mine was a Ford problem...but they did replace it free so what can I say...i'm happy....
