Yes mine gets quieter as the engine warms and sometimes would do it once fully operation temps set in, but I can not do it will revving.

Well then remove them, that will tell you for sure. I'd be willing to put money on it that it's not your problem though. A 10mm socket with extension or 10mm nut driver will do the trick. Two nuts for each heat shield and they are very easy to remove. I drove for a week with none at all with no ill effects.

yes i have taken it to the dealer. twice. they claim they cannot reproduce it...which is impossible as the noise is so obvious. most likely they just can't figure out what's causing it...they had my car for 2 days and nothing...
edit: it seems to get better (softer) as the car engine warms up...that leads me to believe it is the heat shield (at least for me)...

Well heat shields don't get worse. I bet it has to do with your clutch. If you have an auto then ignore the previous.

i didn't think i was able to do it either just revving...and then as it got worse, i was able to. you'll be there soon unfortunately :-D just try it, right when you first start your car :-D

Mine has been doing this since my first week of having the car...took it to a Ford dealer and they told me it was the rear exhaust?? They never fixed it and I am debating if I should take back or not

Well to the best of my knowledge the clutch is still engaged when in nuetral. It could be the pressure plate is loose.
The reason I think it's the clutch is because you are completely stock. If you had aftermarket engine mounts or torque limiters or something else to firm up the drivetrain and enduce vibrations in other parts of the car then I could see it being something else.
It's either that or the exhaust.

ok if it has to do with my clutch (yes i have a manual) then why does the rattle happen when i'm in neutral, or when i have the clutch pushed in? it doesn't make sense for it to be the clutch....any more ideas??

Don't waste time tightening them or bending them, just remove them and take it for a test drive. That way you'll know for sure.

Any suggestions on how to tighten/check the pressure plate?
I dont know what a pressure plate is or where it is.
