^ TP... A few extra sensors, more sensitivity, better design, more customization/extra features. Just to name a few...

... My Clifford goes off whenever a Honda drives by... or really loud noises like slamming doors. Yet I can still rub all over the car, lean on it, rock it, and hit pretty much anywhere besides the trunk/door/hood and the damn thing doesnt go off.
Try the clifford G5, thats what I have. The omni sensor on it is great, no false alarm. It only goes off or warns when theres an actual bumb and not when theres a loud noise.

Anyone looking to buy an alarm. Look at the Clifford G5, by far it is the best alarm I have ever had.

Sounds like you have one hell of a "rice detector" there!!!!!!

Sounds like I would be wasting my money to upgrade past the factory alarm......I don't see any big advantages...

This brings up a question.... WHAT do the aftermarket alarms do that the factory active-alarm doesn't???
ps.. Fry's has wired the poswer supply in the wrong location......
The aftermarkets have more features.
The stock system integrates well with and is designed specifically for your car.

These days, trying to integrate aftermarket electronics into cars is very difficult and on some models, darn near impossible.
Current cars are using a data bus that connects to stuff all over the vehicle so you have to be careful when installing aftermarket electronics.

Personally, I would leave the stock system alone and install a kill switch.
If you are determined to go aftermarket, Clifford is one of the best, but ANY alarm is only as good as the installation.
You can buy the best alarm on the market but if some meathook handed tech botches the install, you are going to have a nightmare on your hands.

Thanks undecided. . . . I guess I'll be asking for suggestions on a kill switch.... I have a perfect location, I just need an idea of 'what to kill'.
Fuel, power.....?

Thats weird...Do you know where the omni sensor is mounted? Mine is mounted on the drivers side up on the firewall and it picks up every tap on the car. Also it could be out of adjustment. I had that problem when I first got it, they didnt set the sensitivity correctly. But ever since they fixed it, it had worked like a charm.

TP, dont let my bad experience deter you from getting an aftermarket alarm. Personally its the only way I would go. Its the reason I didnt want one from the factory, because aftermarket ones are so much better.

And Triton and undecided are right, Clifford is one of the best out there, but the alarm is only as good as the installer. My alarm has many more sensors and alot more features and customibility than the stock alarm. I can also upgrade any sensor at any time and switch them out for better ones that Clifford might come out with in the future... no way of doing that with the factory one. Find yourself a good installer that knows what theyre doing and has experience with these newer Mustangs and youll be golden.

Triton, Im not sure where my omni sensor is mounted, I suppose I could call them and ask. Youre right, mine could be out of adjustment, they mentioned it can be adjusted to different sensitivities ( <- wow, alot of "i"s in that word). But its wierd, its like it has REALLY sensitive parts and then some that arent sensitive at all. Like I said, the hood, door and trunk are those parts. If I take my finger and give it a firm tap it will beep, but on the roof, quarter panels etc, I get nothin. Would you happen to know why it goes off for loud exhausts and slamming noises? (Particularly, ricers and motorcycles.) I have the proximity sensor as well, but I thought that detetcted motion, not sound waves?
