Horse Power TV
ok just a question. i was watching horsepower this morning and they were doing a recap of last week. they put a stroker kit in a new GT and it laid down 265hp to the wheels.(i beleave thats what they said i was also dealing with myson at the time)so what does the stock GT dyno at to the wheels. i know that the 300hp is at the crank so please leave the explinations of the loss out.

Really ticks me off that they said it's going to be another couple weeks before they finish up the build. They spent the whole time today showing how to put on a CAI and short throw shifter. I mean come on, you can't label an episode to be about a stroker build-up and then just show me how to put on a CAI. I wanna see the final numbers already!!!!

not to jack this thread, but i think it was hptv who was engine dynoing all the old huge v8's from the 60's/70's muscle car era, and the street hemi made over 800 horsepower in stock form [sm=badbadbad.gif] i can't remember exactly what hemi it was because i just saw like 15 seconds of the end of the show where they were recapping, but HOLY ****ING **** 800chp n/a totally stock. that's ****ing insane. oh and it was rated at like 450 from the factory LOL

No, no, no.....it was American Muscle Car on Speed Channel. They were conducting dyno tests on factory spec'd engines(with obvious blueprinting and other "legal" tuning) . These are the type of specs that the vintage true street racers go by. Yes, that Hemi put up some scary #'s, and the side-oiler Ford 427 put the Chevy Mark IV(i.e. 396-427-454 family of engines) to shame(some 100+hp more).

It's not fair to compare a new crate engine to a 60's engine. I'm from the Pure Stock days of racing in the late 60's to 70 and all the cars were preaty equal off the showroom floor. All within a second.Hemi, Chevy & Ford. It's when you started tweaking. Ignition, headers, carb, slicks etc. Is when you started to get things better. By the way I heard one of the new Hemi crate motors at a car show today, sounded burly butthe engine wasnoisy too.
