3v GT vs. 4.0 v6
Whats the differnce in MPG between the two? Right now I have 2 GT's, an 05 and an 01, but the 01 is eclipsing 90,000 miles and I think its about time to get rid of it, now I want something like a little sport compact, well the Wife does, but I might think about getting a 06-07 v6 Stang with a 5spd just to help on gas and to drive to work and stuff and not run the miles up on the GT. Good idea or no? Thanks

So basically like 30 extra miles per fill up between the 2? That kinda sucks, either they did agood job of getting the v8 good gas mileage, or a sh*tty job getting the v6 theirs.

Well it matters on what people say. I've been at car show and asked V8 owners what they get and one said never above 16.9. I have a V6 and got a best of 28.2 on a trip. Recently I got a JBA axleback muffler and actually increased the gas mileage. Was almost 30mpg on a short trip with stop & go/highway. Today I'm going for a nice cruise and get a better reading. Plus I was averaging 290-300 miles per tank. Fillup the other day I got 332 miles per tank. So the JBA helped a bunch. And before I got 360 per tank on a long highway trip, now I'll bet around 400. So I think my V6 does great with MPG. Plenty of power/torque and decent mileage. I'll take my Mustang at 30mpg than a Toyota at 30mpg. All these readings are on the dash with the Message Center which has proven to be accurate.

With my auto, and 3.31 limited slip axle, I just got 29.18 mpg on a test run of all highway at speeds between 55 and 60. The trip computer thingy says I get 20-21 around town but I haven't tested it's accuracy. The highway mpg was figured with paper and pen though so I know it is right. I only have 440 miles on the car now, but these figures are better than I had hoped for.

2005GT w/20K on the clock w/no mods of yet. I got 28mpg on a ~350 mi trip that was pretty much all highway speed. On adaily basis I drive 28mi one way to work that is mainly highway with a lot of lights (0-60-0 runs) and that combined with some intown driving in the evenings/weekends I get around 20-21mpg.

I can tell you this much, I get no where near 30, and have no mods. Drive 90% highway, ~70mph.. I get like 22. I've seen V6 mpg reporting all over the charts.

At speeds of 65-70, my mileage falls off to 24 mpg. 55-60 is the key speed here, but don't get run over doing it. Not a problem up here though. Cops everywhere just looking for speeders.
