Mufflers

RE: Mufflers
From what you are saying, you are looking for exactly what I was looking for, as far as exhaust note. I went with the Flowmaster American Thunders that you are looking at. No, they do not need to be welded on. My 12yr. old and I installed them in about an hour, with no lift, and minimal hand tools. At first, they start out a bit louder than stock, but with time, they continue to get louder. And if you plan on doing a CAI and Tune, that will make them sound even a bit louder and better.....
They can be kept quiet when necessary, but at WOT sound good to me. It's all personal opinion. I'll see if I can dig up an old video I did.....

RE: Mufflers
I read through every post I could find and ended up with the Corsas. They were a little more expensive than the rest, but I absolutely love the sound. At idle and just tooling around, they are just a little bit louder. When the RPM's start kicking they really open up to a nice throaty, not tinny sound. I don't know where you are located, but if you are near dearborn michigan, I have the time to arrange a hearing....

+1 for do it yourself....I just put on Corsa A/B's two weeks ago....it was very easy!! it took me about 1 1/2 hours because I did it slow and easy.....no lift, no jacks....old fashion way!!
you can do it....and use the $$ you save on some other mods!!

Retro: good to talk about something other than thunking!
I'd say go to a mustang show or a performance shop where mustang-nerds hang out and get them to let you hear their different exhausts and maybe even drive their cars. And I just thought everybody did their own installations! Silly me. . . I've had MACs on and off of there three times and done it myself every time. Once you figure out where the bolts are it's not bad. I'm not sure why everybody's keen on welding them. What if you don't like it? I guess they could cut them off for you, but I guess I'd rather have the option of switching them out on my own using the clamps.
