Basic physics says that making the throw shorter makes the shift harder. It is that way with all short shifters by nature.

The thing they are referring to is likely the "notchy" quality of the Hurst. You "click out" of gear and then "click into" gear, though all in the same motion. I love it because it truly gives you a solid feel of what you are doing despite the remote location of the shifters on these cars. I know EXACTLY when that tranny engages and I can let the clutch out.

Like pretty much everyone, the stock is ok but compared to a Hurst, etc., it cant compare!!! I went with the FRPP Hurst and never looked back either!!!! [sm=smiley20.gif]

+2 on the MGW.

I have a couple buddies with the Hurst and Tri-Ax. Both tried out my MGW. Both are ready to make the switch.

Does the MGW vibrate like the Roush and other short throw shifters?

I rode in my buddy's 07 with the Hurst and saw/heard the shifter vibrate and make some kind of sound while in gear. Comapring that to my MGW, I have none of those issues.

I wanted one so bad, then I dry shifted my friends, and I wrote it off. It saved me 160 bux. It was the stiffest thing ever, I couldnt use it. He used my shifter and was like dammm thats soo nice, I dont know how people miss 3rd with this thing, its so smooth. So other than maybe purchasing a chrome hurst stik, and ball, I think i'll stay with my shifter.

IMO the stock shifter was just OK. I was getting tired of missing 3rd gear under hard acceleration. I put in an MGW and the difference is night and day. If your OK with the stock shifter then spend your money elsewhere. I know that missing 3rd gear 25% of the time under hard accel. was not cutting it for me. Most people will tell you that they would never go back to the stock shifter after the installation of an aftermarket one.
I was having the same problem of missing 3rd under hard acceleration, but with the MGW shifter it feels like the transmission is sucking the car into gear. I have not missed a gear since the shifter change. I have heard the Hurst shifter generates some vibration, but the MGW comes with sound dampening material and I don't have any viberation at all. The MGW also has adjustable throw so you can change the throw between 20% - 50% shorter than stock. Just some food for thought.
