Opening Hood for Cool Down a Good Idea?

Opening Hood for Cool Down a Good Idea?
I recently started opening the hood when she's back in my garage after a drive to let all that heat escape- otherwise it stays hot (or at least warm) for several hours- which can't be very good for all the rubber/plastic hoses & stuff.
I even considered buying a Saleen hood with those 2 heat-extractors, but seeing as how that would cost me about $1500, I figured just opening the hood till she cools off would be a good enough solution.
Anybody else do this too, or am I the only one...???

Yeah, I feel the same way- and it only takes a few seconds to pop the hood, so it's not like an inconvenience or anything.
I really like the looks of the Saleen hood, but I'm not willing to spend that kind of money for it......

I just looked it up and the sale price is $599 + $65 shipping + ??? to have it painted, so we're still talking about $1200.
I don't think the Cervinis is actually designed for "heat extraction" either- it's more of a "ram-air" hood (and does indeed look suitably mean!).
The Saleen is designed specifically for heat extraction.

I'm not worried about the temp when I'm driving (air-flow is fine from the grill), but after I shut her off and am parked in my garage- that's when it feels like a friggin' space heater is turned on under the hood.
I don't think that Cervinis hood would help at all with that- the Saleen hood certainly will, but for $1500 I'd rather just pop it open for an hour....
I'm in Ocean county right outside Toms River.

O.K., now I know what he meant- thanks!
Yeah, that would certainly do the trick too, though I still happen to prefer the look of the Saleen extractor hood......
