Default car cover

I'm planning on bringing the stang up to college with me next year. Since I really don't plan on driving it much and it will be stuck outside, I want to get a car cover. Now, my folks are arguing that they guarantee someone will steal the cover. Did anyone ever have this problem? I don't really think it will be that big of an issue, but hey, asking anyway.

I've never had any problems but i only cover the cars after they havebeen washed, and when it is parked behind my house. If you are going to park it at a college dorm....I dunno. It might draw unwanted attention.

most covers come with a couple of eyelets at the bottom so that you can tie them down with ropes or lock them on with steel cables...

I've used car covers for over 20 years and have never had a problem.....but you are going to be on a college campus. I believe your best bet would be like the above poster said, buy a steel cable so that you can lock it. Now that won't completely make it theft proof, but it will slow them down. Make sure you park some place where there are security cameras set up.

Just keep in mind when using the car cover, the car needs to be clean. Even if you have to detail it before you put your cover on, it will keep it from getting scratched.

Thanks to everyone that replied! I'll look into getting one with a steel cable.

don't bother to buy one that doesn't come with a cable and see if you can see what the lock is like. You might have to buy one in person, so you know what you're getting, but if the lock is a cheap suitcase one than return it for something better. Expect to pay at least $150.
Some people recomend spray painting your license plate number on the front and back to discourage thieves and vandals.
