Default 0/r H-pipe question

Hey guys,
I just got rid of my old car (sig)and just got a 2007 Performance White California Special. My question is with the o/r pipe on the 2005+ cars do I need MIL's? My roomate has an 05 with an o/r X and got no CEL but I thought you did need them? Thanks for the help in advance.

I know a tuner tune can eliminate the rear o2's but I have no money for that right now.

I just bought an O/R H, I am a newb so please educate me on what MIL's are and if the CEL comes on, since I know what it is, is it ok until I can get my tuner to clear the code? I mean I won't be doing anything to my car right? Didn't mean to hijack your thread if I did, I am wondering the same as you.

When I first put on my o/r h I didn't get a CEL. But after 4 days of driving (roughly 200 miles) I got a CEL. That's when I ordered my CAI and tuner.

It's worth taking a chance......but you'll want to get a tuner soon after anyway because you'll be running rich with the o/r h. I lost 2 mpg in mixed driving after installing the o/r h......but I got that back with the tuner.

Some cars throw a CEL and some don't...I don't know why. MILs are only about $65, but I'd get a tuner/intake combo. If you install and get a CEL, you could just ignore it until you get a tuner...assuming it is only due to the"insuffient catalyst".

No tune is required for off-road pipes. You lost gas mileage because you couldn't keep your foot out of the gas for those 4 days.
Air/fuel is adjusted using pre-cat O2 sensors which are unafected by off-road pipes. Cat efficiency is checked by after cat O2 sensors, which throw a CEL with off-road pipes.

PS.. I have a Ford Focus with a high-flow cat that has thrown a CEL for about 40,000 miles or so. I still get around 350 miles per tank of gas...400 miles if I work real hard for it on the highway.

It only took about 20 miles of hard driving to throw my CEL. +1 to the loss of mileage, once you get those pipes on the sound is a 100% better, even with stock mufflers.

Do you have to have a tune for an o/r midpipe the answer is no, but do you want a check engine light on a brand new 2007 car thats entirely up to you. If you buy a cai/tuner from a respected performance shop they will tailor the tune for the intake you purchased as well turning off the rear o2 sensors which monitor catlytic converter efficiency andany othermods you have they can adjust the tune for it.Not to mention you will gain as much as 28-30rwhp just from the cai/tuner package.

Will I be able to bear the sound with Mac axle backs? Is it a worthy mod?
