Default First time at the track

Okay, let me set the stage for this. Never driven at a track or race in my life, but went with some friends to a "run what you brung" at the local strip. I learned 2 things:
1. I can't drive for s%$t!! (please, no more derision on my reaction time!!! I caught hell last night [8D])

2. Mustangs are pretty fast

Everyone in the threads about track times say that a stock Mustang 60 foot should be 2 seconds or faster...!!! I keep getting 2.1 - 2.4 seconds... ! I cant beat 14.1 but my wheels do spin off the launch ( a lot ).

Mine too. Thought maybe I was just real nervous and going at it a little too hard. Maybe replacing the factorytires would help me out??

Forgot to mention, the other "car" was an 04 Chevy SSR...Kind of thought they'd be faster...

Music City Raceway?? Is this Union Hill?
I'm going to Tuesday night drags at Union Hill Tuesday (5/22). I went last year totally stock and got little to no traction on the stock KDWS's. Ran a 9.3 and my reaction time was "nearly" as poor as yours. (it was also my first time out)

I can't wait until Tuesday to see the difference the intake+tune has made. My tires are still stock, but about 3/4 through their life. Either they will be like slicks...or just plain slick. We'll see.

Yep, Union Hill...DOn't know when they did it, but some were complaining about the new concrete track, so I assume it was asphalt or something before.
Is yours auto-or manual??

I ran into MusicCityGT out there last year, and he ran a 8.85 before his cams/clutch/flywheel/etc./etc.. I think he had long tubes and 4.10s...tires were KDWIIs.
Don't know what he runs now...

Damn clutch! [>:]I was running the brenspeed 89 tune last night and with the exception of the "getting started off the line" issues , the car pulled like crazy...

My best time was spinning tires off the line and chirping the hell out of 2nd.

Did you get out of your car and watch the bikes race? They're insane. Last year there as a guy on a scooter (gas powered skateboard with wheels)...ran something like 17.9 secs.[&:]
