RE: 5.0 liter
All im saying is a GT500, stock, with a 5.4 and a supercharger, does 12.9 quarter mile. A regular GT n/a 4.6does 13.8. Not much difference. The 5.0 would be in between there, but I'd imagine more towards the 13.8 because it won't be s/c plus the probably added weight.
In other words... One CAI or something on a GT and the stock 5.0 no longer matters.
Believe me, id rather have the 5.0 just because!!! Im just saying...

I would be very happy to be wrong but I would not expect an engine upgrade in 2008.
Thecurrent powerplant skirts right on the edge of the gas guzzler tax already. Look at the Shelby GT, you take a regular GT and throw a mild gear upgrade plus an FRPP tune and here comes the tax [:'(]
More likely, we'll see some addtional (mostly appearance) variants for 2008 whileFord works on the revision for 2009.

Very interesting. Of course, it wouldn't offer much improvement at all, but... Very interesting.

As for not much improvement, Saleen bored and stroked the stock aluminum block engine to make a 302 -- which puts out 400hp -- for the Parnelli Jones edition car.
The reason the Shelby GT500s are not"that much faster" than stock GTs is becauseof the additional weight of the 5.4 and because Ford put a very mild version of the supercharged 5.4 in the GT500, probably anticipating that owners would immediately start modding their cars. With a minor pulley swap, you'reputting down 600hp+.
