Had a young man (18-20ish) today ask me if my "GT300" was a Shelby, I told him it was just a stripe kit, there are no such cars. He said no there were real Shelby GT300, GT350 and GT500s, I love Mustangs I know.

Whatever, can't tell some ppl anything. Glad he likes the car, didn't appreciate him dis'in it because it was a poser. Other ppls kids.

JP

There is a guy on ebay selling the GT300 stripes, that is supposed to represent the 300HP. His words not mine. Who am I to argue? But IMO, the 350 stripes are just a throwback look of the old Shelbys. Now the 500 is obvious.

Funny that this topic came up- just this morning a Mustang convertible w/ the "GT-350" stripe passedby me when I was stopped at an intersection. I had never heard of or seen this before, and figured it must bea personal or dealer-installed stripe package.

Default Car trivia

The gt350 was built 350 paces from the office door where it was produced.

The gt500 name originates from the idea that ford has always placed the 500 tag on the "top of the line" in luxury and/or performance. Hence FR500

Originally neither name dealt with power output in any way.
