here we go with the mods
All right, here we go....
I have a 2005 automatic GT,bone stock.
I spoke to the Ford dealership (great dealership really takes care of me if you can believe it!) and I'm going to have theminstall the following;
3.73 Gears - $650
CAI/Tuner - $850
Borla Exhaust (from the Cat back) $580
with the exception of the Borla exhaust, all parts are Ford Racing, so, warrantly will not be voided (only have 6 months left anyway). What do you all think ? worth it or am I getting taken ?

Not worth it. Go aftermarket. The Ford racing tune is blah, thats a bit expensive for gears, expect about $400-$500, plus i wouldnt let a dealership instal them anyway. Also you can find Borla axle backs for cheaper online, and takes about 15 minutes to install. Your warranty will still be there, they have to prove the part you put on broke whatever. If you blow your engine, put the stock airbox back on and put your tune back on, there ya go its stock again.

3.73 Gears - $650 Mildly taken
CAI/Tuner - $850 Raped
Borla Exhaust (from the Cat back) $580 ???
Might be worth the extra few bucks for the piece of mind on the gear install.
Buy a C&L Racer package from Brenspeed with the SCT XCAL II. Cost me $602. YMMV.

OK you need to do some reasearch then....there are plenty of great threads on here as this is discussed everyday and there are many choices that are tons better than the FRPP combo Most go with B amachips or Brenspeed. As for how to do it...........tacobill even has a write up for it.

The gear price ain't that bad...but not great.
The intake and tune is astronomical for what you are getting
If you are that worreid about a warranty then wait 6 months and get Brenspeed tune and a JLT/C&L cai for 550-600. Much better tune and much better CAI.

I wouldnt let Ford install your gears. I work at a Ford dealership, lol i wouldnt let them touch somthing that complicated. As for a tune, all you do is plug it in.

Hey if the dealer is certified and the cost is about right for the gears...so I would have them do the gears and if the whine happens to come to your rear diff than take it back under warranty and they have to do it for free until it is right. The rest I would go aftermarket and the install is easy...the CAI you can do yourself and the tuner just plugs in and prompts you from there. Even the axelbacks are easy to do yourself and if not take it to a muffler shop or exhaust specialist of your choice and buy the mufflers yourself from an aftermarket person as well.
