Default Waxes

It seems like last summer there were a bunch of threads about which wax was best. I remember hearing a good bit about zanio (sp?) wax because you only had to do it once a year. While I find that hard to believe I am hoping that someone can chime in and tell me how they like it if they have been using it for a while and how long does it last?
I have been using the meguires nxt stuff and while it's super easy to use and looks great it doesn't seem to last long at all. I saw a car recently that the guy used that new turtle wax ice stuff on and it looked great so I am going to try that next.
..That being said I am really interested in peoples experience with zanio and weather or not it is worth it... pro's con's etc....

any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
P

I've been looking for some good wax also, just purchased some Ice this weekend. I'm waiting for some good weather to try it.

the nu-finish once a year wax that comes in a tin that u have to pry open the lid lasted me about 5 washes, 1 every 2 weeks, so 10 weeks total. i think the tin was about 5 bucks or maybe cheaper, and it has enough for at least 5 waxes.

I use a coat of maguiers synthetic sealant, then 2 coats ( 24 hours apart ) of p21s Carnuba wax. The p21s is a bit expensive (around $40 for small jar) but i detail for a living and my car is my obsession. lol. Also the p21s has to be applied roughly every 2 weeks, but the sealant lasts about 2 good months.

I'm not sold on "once a year car waxes", applying wax is like putting on sun tan lotion, you have to have protection if you're gonna be outdoors most of the day. The key is properly preparing the surface to apply a quality coat of wax. I wax my car every two months, living in L.A., I don't have much of a choice with what's in the air. Then again, I love washing, waxing & cleaning my car. Just today I gave a co-worker a ride home and he thought I just bought my car(it's only 10 months old), but it still looks brand new(I actually "message" my leather seats when conditioning, not sure if it does anything, but my seats are virtually wrinkle free compared to other S197s with under 10K miles that I've seen). I hear great things with Poor Boy's products, and Mother's, Meguiar's, Zaino and other high end waxes. It's the prep work that allows the top coat of high gloss quality wax to do it's thing. Are you using the liquid NXT or the paste? The paste will last longer, but you need to make sure you apply it in conditions better than when applying the liquid stuff in my experience, while both need to have cool surfacesand shade, the paste needs more care. I do it in sections(apply& remove)so the wax doesn't over-dry, 'cause it's a bitch to remove and may cause scratches if one becomesimpatient when removing. Yes, I might be picky, but I love cars and especially Mustangs

Define "cheap", as in under $5-6 a bottle/can? I hear Poor Boy's has a wax specifically for darker vehicles, but it's around $20 a jar.......cheap insurance IMO

Ive experienced good things withmaguiers gold class paste wax, its less then $10 a can. It wont go 10 feet near my car, but like i said earlier im ****, and wont hasitate to purchase $80 wax, lol. I use it on my girlfriends black G6, and it comes out great.
