Default $550 to install a suspension?

Is that a ripoff or considered a decent price? Its for the installation of struts, shocks, springs and sway bar, the Saleen suspension basically.

Well I was quoted $1000 to do that but it was including the lower and upper control arms as well as panhard bar with support. I ended up just doing it myself and thought that it was a fun project. Took about 10 hours to complete and I had a good time doing it. The only special tools you need is a spring compressor for the front struts that could be rented at auto zone if your dont have one, and a torque wrench.

Figuring it's a 7-8 hr. job, that's $65.-$75./hr.

I believe that's about the going rate, sounds fair to me.

Seems a bit high to me. It is not that labor intensive. Figure 1 Hour for each front strut that would be spring and strut remove and replace. 1 Hour for the rear springs and 1 hour for the shocks then say 1 hour for the sway bar . So what's that 5 hours total. So he charges like 110.00 per hour. You should be able to do this job yourself with basic hand tools. Do it yourself or find a local member that has the qualifications thatis willing to help and teach for a Lunch and 12 pack of beer.

Or just say screw it and pay the guy 550 and pick up your car the next day without having to clean your hands. Make sure he throws in an alignment when hes done too

Sounds very high, I did everything on my garage floor with jacks and jackstands with air tools in about 3 1/2 hrs. Of course the alignment I could not do. I would imagine a shop with a lift could beat that time easily.
