+1
Thinking stock mufflers might be the way to go. I know my neighbors preffered the stock mufflers and h-pipe setup.

ORIGINAL: jerjan

With headers and off road pipes things can get very loud, try putting your stock mufflers back on and see if that tones it down enough. It's amazing how much the cat convertors actually reduce noise.
ecspecially on sn95 GTs with 6 cats. ON my old 96 GT i ran stock manifolds and stock h-pipe with no catbacks and it wasnt really that loud. I put an o/r h-pipe with slp catbacks and that thing was LOUD.

But on my 07 im about to do LTs with an o/r X-pipe but im leaving the stock mufflers on.

Flows or stock pipes with the O/R H pipe will sound good. There probably is something out there that sounds better but this is all subjective and opinionated

If its a bit too loud and in need of some quieting down you can throw on some GTA's they will def quiet it down some unless at WOT and they have very little drone. Maybe you can try out those 2 in 1 pipes from MAC, depending on what you want its either catted or cat-less for those track days. Another route would be to just go with catted H or X pipe and GTA's and exhaust cutouts for when you need that track performance and noise.
