dude that thing must make at least 800hp. are u aware of the issue with fuel sloshing back and the car running lean? my buddy blew an engine because of that.
I wish. Still have stock internals, so tune is kind of conservative... 458 rwhp on a MustangDyno. The air/fuel ratio is at 11.3 at over 6000 rpm. At the track we'll use the race tune andput in some race gas...just a gallon...just for insurance. The car is being prepped for around 800hp but we're working our way gradually to that point. Sort of started at the rear end and working towards the front. The last big item is of course the motor and probably a move up to the F1 Procharger at the same time.
I paid a little more to have "swing-outs" installed. The pins that lock the bar in place, come out so that the bar can swing out and back in. None of the bars are removeable however. They're welded with frame mounts and meet NHRA specs. I'm trying to keep it a daily driver as long as possible, so it's a must for me and of courseany unfortunate passenger.
does the seat still go all the way back? would you recomend this kit
I don't know yet about the seats and they'll be replaced fairly soon with much muchlighter ones (no electric motors). The kit was ordered andinstalled by aveterandragracer (has two 6 second dragsters) who has a huge amount of experience and knows the rules. I chose mild steel. It's only about 30lbs heavier than chrome molly. It can be easily extended to become full cage, if that is ever necessary.
It looks cool but is not something I would recommend to do toyour carunless it can't be avoided. This mustang is never going back to stock and eventually it will be unstreetable. Obviously you'll lose the utility of the back seats and there is a measure of inconvenience in dealing daily with the swingouts.
