I have an entire "how to" on the mirrors prep that you can easily search on and find. I would not recommend do-it yourself painting of them. Even if you have the primer/bas/cleacoat skill and equipment yourself you will spend the same (buying extra materials) than have a prof shop do it. If you follow my prepping instructions a shop will do these very reasonably and then you have commercial quality/duty clearcoat especially. Prep is approx 2hrs per mirror; YOU do that; let the shop paint and clear them. (only bring the car in so they can set the color match; mirrors painted "off" the car; you reinstall)

Yeah, doing the paint yourself can get a little tricky. Most shops probably won't charge more than $30/mirror even with materials. Well worth it for the work involved. Removal and install won't take more than 10 minutes, that's if you stop to drink a beer.

+ 1

Even double that price from a quality shop is a deal for what you get.

How did you mask the plenum cover properly?

I didn't mask it, I brushed the letters after the basecoat and before the clear coat.

The pony is just double sided taped onto the cover.
