Engine swap???
Why doesn't anyone put the 07 gt500's engine (with out the supercharger) in a gt body? Will it fit and if so how much should the engine be? I'm not wanting...ok it would be AWESOME to have that in my car, but I'd rather just wonder about it...anyone know if it would fit, money involved, and weight difference?
It would fit- the body for the GT500 comes off the same line in Flat Rock, MI. as the mustang GT! The GT500 has a weight differenceI think it is 54% front and 46% rear. On the GT it's about 51% in the front and 49% in the back both cars stock from the factory. I think you can get the motor on Ebay for 15,000 dollars with the S/C.
good question but figuring a stock GT is 300 HP and a stock GT500 S/C is 500 HP. I would geuss motor to motor at the crank 300HP for the GT and 375-400 HP for the GT500. Its not so much that the forged block, rods, and pistons of the GT500 that gives it its HP its the ablilty to put a S/C on the GT500 and up the boost almost as much as you want therefore putting the car into over 500 HP and beyond. I know with a pulley change and tuning the car can easily have 700-900 HP and run low 10's or high 9's in the 1/4 mile with the GT500.
