18X9.5 Wheels and 255-45-18 Tires?

18X9.5 Wheels and 255-45-18 Tires?
All,
I was thinking of gettting the 18" SVT 2007 Cobra wheels at Tire Rack. They are 9.5 inches wide.
TR recommends 255-45-18 tires. I'm doing the same size on all 4 corners. I was concerned that this tire size will look a little stretched on those rims. I think that wheel/tire combination is the one on the front of the GT500, but I've been wrong before :-). I don't do any racing or dragging. Just some spirited fun.
Anyone have comments on this setup?

The quoted tire size is stock for the GT 500 front tires and the rears are 285/40/18. The 255’s are about as narrow as I would want to go on the front with the 18x9.5 wheel, and the 285’s are about as wide as I would want to go with the 18x9.5 wheel. Others may have something else to say, but my personal experience is stated above. I have the BFG KDW (II) tires and so far I am happy with them, although I sometimes wish I had purchased the BFG Drag Radials for the rear. I might get a set of the GT 500 wheels and BFG Drag Radials for the track. We’ll see.

I have 255/45s on my 9.5" wide wheels on my Mustang. They fit ok, but could probably be a touch wider, honestly. I wasn't sure about any possible rubbing up front when turning sharp, though, so I decided to stick with 255/45.
FWIW, I have 295/45 wide tires on 9.5" rims on the rears of my Marauder and they fit just fine. They are Nittos, though, and I understand that they run a touch narrow compared to other brands. But, I think you could get by with 295s on a 9.5" wide wheel ok. Probably need a 10" wide wheel for anything bigger, though.
