i dont street race becuase gas is to expensive. and if a rock or something flew up and hit my windshield i might cry lol jk. and my 20 inch rims arent built for hard work, but for luxury
Sorry this just cracks me up you pay $3 a gallon or so. For me to fill a Stang with premium here it would cost me $125 to fill the tank. Be thankful how little it costs you. You really dont have much to complain about compared to Europe.

However yes I race on the streets occasionally when it is safe to do so. Some people just need to be shown there not as fast as they are. However I prefer to do it up or down the on ramps. Can get up to 100+ on them and there 2 lanes wide so its usually a good place to race since your still staying legal.

When you are street racing you are putting not only your whole life on the line, but the life of innocent pedestrians and drivers as well. Anybody who does that needs to talk to that kid who killed a guy in a wheelchair, or the other one who wiped out and took the life of a 10 year old boy with him.
I will take on a car but only up to the speed limit. Once there I just cruise along and wait for the fool to pass me... 10 seconds later!
Also, by street racing you are insuring that we will lose any legal race tracks that are left. Right now the a-holes want to close yet another race track in SoCal. If all those street demons put their energy into legalized forms of racing we'd have tracks in every town!
The next time some jack@ss revs his car, roll down your passenger side window and ask him if there's a track you both can go to. If there's not, pull over and see who you know in local government who can create a track for you!

I will do a race at a stoplight up to about 70 if I know the road and know there's not a chance that someone will pull out in front of us. But racing on the freeway is just stupid, IMO.

The very rare stoplight-to-stoplight dash is about all I ever engage in.
And even then it's only if the other person has at least some gray hair (I ignore the youngsters).
It just ain't like the old days anymore, when traffic was lighter, roads were better maintained and presence of law enforcement was nowhere near as pronounced as it is now.
Hell, even backthen it was just as dangerous but I was a kid, so I didn't care.

Just about every city has a drag track that allows us everyday drivers to get on them and have some fun. Save it for the track!

I generally don't partake in street racing. At least not in town. I may play a lil bit at a desolate stoplight but I don't play around in town were I could risk hurting an innocent bystander. Once there is a clear winner I back off and I'll never take it over70. Not trying to make it sound ok, its just how I see it.And like sonicblue said it usually is the slowest cars that want to race. This weekend some clown in a 2000ish impala was passing andrevving at me in town during peak cop hours. Meanwhile I have a truck no more than 60' in front of me so wtf was this guy expecting me to do? I think this guys tranny was louder than his motor. Some real geniuses out there.

This my take on it. I have no issues with street racing on secure streets. I know of a few shop owners who every once in a while go out at night to an area where there is no houses/traffice, kind of out in the area. There all adults and i think there is Zero issue with that. In fact he has a couple of cop friens who let him know who is in the area. Now I met some other people who does the same thing, but they were all kids and were un safe. For the most part just real immature and should of not doing what they were doing since someone will get hurt. I stayed an hour said f this and did not run.
As for other normal street stuff. If conditions are perfect. No one head of you behind you straight road. A little 0-100 run is fine. But those days for me are less and less as I get older.

I street race, Anywhere, any time. Been caught one time, plead guilty, Told the judge, Yes I was racing. Out ran the cops twice. I think the real morons on the road are the ones in the left lane. Watch any COPs show and the wreck at the end is caused (50%) by someone being in the left lane. For those that think they are some self appose speed regulator for the road( Get the H over) You give me the finger and we will pull over or I will follow you home,.(I don't care if you are a girl) I will kick your ash.

Street racingis never ok, you do it at your own expense, Either money or injuries, Cars now are way to fast to race on the streets, and most drivers don't know the limitations of themselves or there car.
Learning your limitations and then learning your cars limitations in a safe environment is your first step, be it taking a 90 degree leftat 45 mph or power shifting without lifting the gas peddle.
If you don't know your limitations or your cars limitations, then street racing is a accident just waiting to happen.
