It sure looks like the blankets for the 07's are made better than the 05's....My hood blanket easily has the "fuzzy" effect from barely touching it.....[:@][:@]

Bumpity, bump.

Come on, somebody has to have raised their '07's hood and snapped off a few....

Here you go.

nineinchnail1024 you definately should have a hood blanket on there. As you can see on the driver's side that tan colored primer, or whatever, is showing. They just dont bother painting body color where the blanket is suposed to be.
Is that a new one? or one from a Calif. Special? Mine doesn't look like that. Is that part where your scoop attaches modified or stock.
I'll try to get a pic of my 2005 today. It has the 2 ponies.

I ordered an '07 blanket from the dealer the other day. It was just over $100.

I'll post some pics when they get it in. I'm hoping for the single pony without the scoop cutout. That always looked kinda chintzy to me with the holes and everything.

Oh, and I checked my hood and it's primed and painted properly underneath the blanket.

What is the real purpose of the hood blanket anyways? My Whipple was rubbing up against it so the shop recommended that I just remove it completely. Bad idea? My hood is painted under it so I didnt feel bad removing it.

Its the hood of my 07 GT. The hood scoop nuts and clips can be seen.

Insulates the hood from engine bay heat and flames. I think the flames part comes from the old school days where you could easily get a fire up through the air cleaner on a carb setup. They've been putting these on cars for as long as I can remember and all Stangs are supposed to come stock with one.

Personally, I think it just helps trim out the underside of the hood so it has a more finished appearance.

Does anyone know how to get the blanket pins out? They are very difficult to remove without a special tool. Has anyone removed them with ordinary tools you find around the house?

The blanket is there for noise reduction, and I suspect also for some heat / fire insulation although I can't imagine that it would help for long in a fire.
