gears > driveshaft, no doubt about it. What gears do you have now? 3.31?

Well then you should get the same wow factor out of 3.73's that I did out of 4.10's. I did a wide open throttle pass today starting at 60mph to over 100 mph in what felt like 3 seconds. It was probably closer to 4. I wanted to see how shifting to 4th in the 1/4 would feel anyway and I was pleasantly surprised how fast I jammed 4th gear. Those 2 jokers infront of me following behind the old lady must have felt like they were standing still!

Here's a good calculator for figuring mph in each gear.

http://www.angelfire.com/fl/procrastination/rear.html

If you have the manual trans, here's the gear ratios.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TR-3650

They show the power loss to be 16% by the way.

If you race strictly 1/4 mile you will be better off with headers and driveshaft. when you hit 4th in the auto it is a large jump and it wont pull very hard as compared to running the 1/4 all the way in third with your stock gears. if you run farther than the quarter or at speeds exceding 105 go with the gears. i have 2 gts and the one with stock gears will outrun the one with 410s in the qtr. but the 410s are a lot more fun. just depends on what you want

my last reply would be if you have an auto. if it is a standard definately gears. I just got my driveshaft today and am headed to the track to see hom much difference it makes.

I think a lot of people are going to disagree with you. Your car with 4.10's must not have any traction.

I don't understand? You don't recommend the gears if an auto, yet you have an auto with gears. I must have stepped into bizzaro world again.

he didn't reccomend them BECAUSE he has an auto - he means from experience.

personally I would go with gears and driveshaft. they will provide the most seat of the pants improvement

if you plan on some kind of forced induction in the future I would do headers and driveshaft. if not gears and headers
