3.73 or 4.10 for S/C Auto
So, I decided I wanna do the gears this summer and maybe a DS as well and then stop for a while (hehehhehe, yeah right).
What would you guys recommend for a S/C auto and why?
I've read here that 3.73 are more popular with autos but I was wondering if being S/Ced would change things.
I'm not sure at all how gear ratios work... however the way it is now it seems like 1st and 3rd gearsare almost inexistent.
I'm not looking to drag race it every week. maybe every once in a while. street racing? every once in a blue moon
It is a daily driver and i do a lot of hwy miles.
What would be the best setup?

I run 4.10's in mine with Supercharger and love every minute of it.. only thing is if your tuner has talent have him change your RPMS/Shift points from 4th to 5th gears to around 2500.. if not shift points from 4-5 there wont be any 4th gear in the4 city unless you run with the OD off.

I have a 2005 GT with a Saleen Supercharger, 3.6 pulley, 39# injectors and after reading your question, there is only one answer...
3.73 GEAR!!!
You want to do highway driving and as a daily driver, the 3.73 gear would be the natural choice...
I run the 3.73 final drive gear in my automatic anddo not notice any advise effects from this gear selection...
You will notice that the car will also perform well on the highway too...
The 4.10 gear is too steep for the automatic unless you are running very tall tires or 20" wheel/tire combinations...
You will rev way to fast with the 4.10 although Don W. does use them...
Now -- go out there and "Kick Some ***"...

More like 3.50 with a SC that is putting out more than 8psi. Unless your running slicks or sticky street tires, 3.73 or 4.10s will just be up in smoke with anything more than 8psi.
I ran 15 psi one time and sticky 11 inch tires would be just a smoke screen.

hey dave,
how's everything going?
thanks for your time and for every advice.
I got the car back from sutton and everything seems to be working great now.
However as I mentioned before they didn't replace the tensioner and didn't use the k061080 belt.
Instead they seemed to have adjusted the tensioner and used a k061073 belt.
althoughit seems to be holding up pretty good for now.
where did you have your gears installed?
any gear whine after installation?
pm me or shoot me an email if there are any shows or cruises any time soon!
once again, thanks for your time and support

I was going through the same contemplation and with my torque and rwhp and the fact I will never see the track, I was advised that changing gears would make the car seem twitchy. 1st gear would be nothing but traction, whats that? its up to you....but I think as others have advised me that once you switch to a s/c above 6psi boost then you may want to save that money and invest in solid drive shaft and new Torque coverter before even considering gears (albeit, TC should be one of your last mods so you get the right stall) I personally would save for the driveshaft, and tranny work....then go a TC with a higher stall...JMO, from my research over the past 3 weeks....good luck...TJ

thanks for the input tj.
i was considering the spyder shaft to go with the gears.
however the tc if i remember right goes for about a grand or so...
I'll have to think about this. I might just do the shaft for now and then max out the visa for a tc. :-)
btw tj, how the heck did you get the torque so high??? is it the kooks LTs that pumped it up so good?
