The lens you had on it had a maximum aperture of f/3.5. Hey, I'll bet you used the Nikon 18-200mm lens.
You ought to try one leaving the car in color and the background in black in white. I know it's a black car, but color will make a little difference - in the reflections, for one. You can do that in photoshop if you have the original in color. I don't remember if the D80 does in-camera black and white or not. If it does, you may not have a color copy.
