We have similar setups. If you're looking to replace the stock tranny, you really should look into the following http://www.fbperformance.com/NewSite...=18&t=Top2
It's a 3 speed fully manual auto, rated at 900hp. Mine came with driveshaft, overdrive, lock-out, transbrake, full race TC set at 4000 rpm, and the Hurst shifter in the pics. Admittedly my car is a lot less user-friendly these days, more race car than street carand as a daily driver, it's definitely on the weird side (won't win any beauty contests either).
It's 3 forward gears without a clutch. You start in 1st and then just push theHurst forward into 2nd. Even at 15-20 mph, you get a loud thud and get a little smack to the back of your head and neck. You squeeze the lever and push the Hurst forwardto gofrom 2nd to 3rd and that's it. No clutch, no missing gears. You just reverse the sequence to return to 1st. Overdrive allows you todrive highway speeds. The transbrake is strictlyfor the track only. I've onlygot it up to about 3000 rpms but gear changes are seamless and seem even smoother than a regular automatic.
