Default Fake Hood Pin Question!

For those of you with fake hood pins.. I found out they do not lock into place so does this mean someone can just undo them and use them to scratch your hood?

Also... since they do not lock do they make a rattle or any other noise on the road?
Thanks...

If they can be used to scratch the hood I could just leave the connection inside the hood at night right?

I am not really understanding what you mean by someone scratching your hood. Like a vandal? Why would they bother to take one off your car and scratch your car with it?

In my opinion, it's expensive and sensless to get fake hood pins. You can get real ones that actually work and keep the hood from moving at high speed. They are like $15 on Ebay.

I was wondering the same thing. Yes, I believe he is talking about vandals. Fake, or real...they are very visible and attract attention. The only reason I have not installed them on mine is that it would be too easy for some guy walking along the street to be intrigued by them...and then realize that they are an easy tool for destruction.

Ideas, thoughts?

It's the difference between drilling your hood, and having something that is removeable.

Not price.

Don't [fake] hood clips fall into the "rice" category?

Huh??? I have never walked by a car with hood pins and considered trying to remove them and then use them to damage the car. I am totally not understanding you guys. I think someone will sooner key your car before messing with your fake hood pins. If you're worried about someone trying to get them off, get REAL ones that don't come off when you yank on them.

I dont have the lanyards on mine and I had someone steal the one on the right side of my car during the evening. Heck they are cheap to replace but now I bring them inside with me every night because it would get expensive to replace them every night. Yet to have anyone use it to damage my car yet. Car has been spray painted once before though but that was easy to take off.
