this guy said he used only 220 then 320. do u think he wet sanded? is this enough? his look good to me. thanks for opinions!

He's right, you don't want to wet sand until after you put down the base coat. You want it to be slightly rough so the primer and paint will stick to it. Make sure you use adhession promoter before the primer, then primer, then base coat then wet sand and then clear coat.

If you start sanding with 220 it will take you a 40 hr week to do one mirror. Start with #60, then #80, then #110or #100 (all dry). Then 220 and 320 (both wet).

...now ready for paint (adhesion promoter, primer, base. clear) DONE!

i went a different route.. sidenote, guess we cant type m o d u l a r fords.com here. anyway,i sanded 100, then 220, then 320. then i put two coats of primer. wasnt aware of adhesion. then, after the primer quick dried, i wet sanded with 320. then after four hours i dry sanded with 400. it came out damn smooth. the guy at the paint shop asked if i used adhesion and i said no, so he gave them a look and said it looks perfect for painting. i get them back in an hour. ill post pics.

Well he's not responsible if the paint chips or flakes so he'll paint them andya just hope. If you used rattle-can primer you'll need a little luck that this will hold up. If you primed with your gun and automotive primer (especially an etching primer or some aggressive epoxy primers you'll will not likely have a problem with chipping/flaking) Worst case, after time if not working out you simply sand down to the plastic again, and do over; no biggie.

Best of luck and enjoy the improved look; make sure you post some pics for us of the "new ride".
