I really would rather they not address any of the trivial issues that have been discussed. If they did then the price would go up considerably I'm sure. I may have a problem modding (and there by loosing the warranty) on my wifes BMW or my 2007, $46,000 truck but it's not a concern on the mustang.

Oddly enough the truck sits in the drive way and the Mustang goes in the garage.

(I'd throw my wifes import out of the garage also to give the Mustang more room, but I like being married!

Hey in life you get what you pay for, except in the case of the Mustang. If you love performance cars then you end up with far more for the money then most. It just all depends on what you want Performance, Reliabiltiy, and Design. If you have the money pick all three, if not pick the one thats most important to you. I understand you reasoning 47magic it just seems a little irrelavent the Mustang is what it is, and thank goodness for that!

New mercs aren't particularly well built either. The new BMW's are better built cars. And both do have a decent tuning market but like for me to get tuning parts for a start I need to get from the states you need to get from Europe for the European brands. But you can turn the old V8 M5 into an 800hp twin supercharged beast for around $7000. There no more expensive to tune than a mustang.

New mercs though have loads of issues with them. The A class known for tipping over in emergency manouvres. Even the SLR has needed a recall to correct some parts that like to explode when driven hard. I dont particularly think Mercs are built much better than most european cars. But then again your average VW out here is better built than most US cars. Its just a different market. Same with the European Fords there better built than the American fords. Just look at the European focus ST and the interior looks miles better. Not to mention its a fair bit quicker than the American version.

Euro focus

US focus

Different markets require different cars and different approaches. The American ford lineup would do terribly out here. Just like the Euro lineup wouldnt do well out there. Can compare most cars and look at european to american market interiors. Even the Civic looks miles better inside here.

- Horrendous Key and Remote ( You have to be kidding ...right?)

- Exposed wires for the rear window defroster (Oh no..not that! Another $11,000 on the sticker and I bet they would have hid them)

- Clunking of the transmission/driveshaft, when shifting (I have an automatic and I never hear a clunk at any sequence in the shift)

- No Homelink ( Are you serious? The freaking garage door opener will be long gone before the homelink is. Then you'll have a nice garage opener key on your visor..right next to the obsolete homelink)

- 12V outlets are always hot, even when key is removed. Forgetting to unplug radar detector, Satellite radio could have you stranded with a dead battery. (They can only do so much when it comes to Moron-proofing them)

- Awful long way to reach back for your seatbelt ( This one kills me)

You gotta sacrafice something if you are going to make this much fun and this much muscle in a price that is $25k. We all wish there were a few things that were better but that is what the aftermarket is for. I've found the seatbelt to be not bad at all when you use the seat hook on the bottom.
+1 on the seathook. Too bad the passenger side doesn't have it.

I think the first reply said it all.

Also, a family member has a 2001 S500 (>$100,000 car) with 70,000 miles and it is RUSTING in four different places. The body shop quoted $1300 to repair it, but said the rust would just come back in a few years. And they have seen this exact problem on a number of different S500s. No one is perfect.

Rewire thefriggen power outlets if they bug you soooo much.
Or is this beyond your ability?[:@]
Built in garage door opener?? Useless if you dont have a
garage. McBenzes owners always own a garage?[:-] I have
been into about 300 different remotes over the years and
this one is the best built yet. Remotes in the keys like the
Benzes? Dont think so. Its like VCR/DVD combos. When
the VCR breaks, and it will, you are left with only a DVD player.
The VATS system is fine enough for me.[>:] Seatbelt?
Dont freakin wear it and maybe you will disappear from
the forum earlier than expected.[&:] And who thefork is
looking at my Defog wires? Heck, I am just a blur to
everyone else. Hidden defog wires. Never heard of
such a beast. Picky picky. How about how the underside
of the Stangs get dirty somehow. It does not look as
clean as when I purchased the vehicle new? Whats
happening there? It just baffles me how dirt gets
under there. And why do I have to change the oil
every 5000 miles........

For 2008 Ford has put the remote on the key for the Taurus. Ford may do this for the Mustang in 2008.
