RE: S-197 your first stang?
1st was a brand new '92 5.0 I thought it was fast back then. Sold it because my son could no longer fit in the back seat (he's now 6'8") and bought a Toyota Forerunner SUV
Fastforeward...Sons moved out, divorced the wife, now it's all about me again. Bought my '06 last August (0% interest) and I love my car more today than the day I drove it home.

This is my 4th but my best by far.
I had a 1972 Grande with a 302
A 1976 Mustang II with a hatch back (big pinto...lol) with a 302
A 1984 GT vert triple black, nice and slow
A 2006 V6 great ride for what I paid and it is a great looking car.

it my first stang!! honestly i respect the other stangs but i never really liked the way they looked. the looks of the s197 really pulled me in. only years i really like are the s197's and the late 60's and early 70's. the fox's and new edges have really grown on me.

2nd stang, it took over 20 years but I purchased my 66 2 years ago and just picked up my 07 V6 Pony. Always loved the classics and the fox body of the 80's, a little slow on purchasing one but now I have DOS

5th stang 86 gt, 87 gt with t tops, 91 gt (18k in mods ), 99 cobra, and now my 06 gt. My 91 was really nice, fast, and a show winner. I miss it, but the new one is a blast also.

First was a 69 with a 6 cylinder, three speed....This was my first car, in 1972....
Second was an 85 LX, with a HO 5.0...fairly quick, but couldn't keep it cool....
The S-197 is my third. Got rid of a perfectly good 1997 T-Bird in favor of the current Pony. No regrets.......
Miss the 69 since it was my first car, the 85 = [:'(], this one =priceless....

RE: S-197 your first stang?
Actually yes, my very first Mustang, although an avid Ford of Europe Capri owner for over 20 years(the '79 Mustang copied a lot of fundamentals off of the Euro Capri, for those old enough to remember, the Capri was the "Sexy European" sold by L-M dealers). Always lusted after a Mustang when the GT was reborn for 1982(coincided with me getting my driver's license) and nearly bought one in '85, a Jalapeno Red over Grey GT($10.6K MSRP, the good old days!). College and other things were much more important, so the dream waited. 1993, ah, the one that got away! Teal SVT Cobra($22K MSRP) was just begging me! Domestic bliss(marriage) put that dream to sleep 'til '02(divorced). 0% was offered in the wake of 9/11 and Iwas practically signing on the dotted line on a Zinc Yellow fully loaded '02 GT($19.8K) when the stealership pulled a fast one and BS'd me on my trade-in('00 Frontier Crew Cab), so it was aborted! Second marriage(of all of two years) ended as the S197s were being released! As Al Pacino said in "Scarface" when the cilmatic ending shootout scene started as he dodged bullets before returning fire, screaming out, "Ok, My Turn!". Finally, March 12, 2005, black premium GT with graphite interior and machined wheels(oh yes!). Should have seen the look on my 2nd ex's face as I signed the divorce papers.......................now I'm on Mustang #2 and dating(hopefully) wife # 3(yes, I'll never learn!)
