This actually is not a new idea. Several companies experemented with this in the 40's and 50's. On the short term, they work well. However, the product made from Soy Oil tends to break down when used in direct sunlight or as something as heavy a wear item as a seat cushion.

On the upside, now many vegans can avoid starvation if they ever become trapped inside of a Ford for some reason. J/K

seems like that would be very beneficial, from a cost perspective, only if Ford can employ the strategy across all of their cars...but more importantly, the environmental benefits seem very good.. it is a very good PR piece for Ford, as it illustrates that they are being "socially conscience."
