Default Painting Grill Pony

What kind of paint would I have to invest in, in order to paint the grill pony?

I bought gloss black paint that was in a spray can and was made for painting parts of your engine. If its good enough for the engine its good enough for a chrome pony. My 1st time around i did it gloss black and no clearcoat (stupid move). I then redid it several months later and layed that clear coat nice, and its been great for months now, no chipping or flaking just like the day I did it. I did not remove the grill I just masked off and painted away, of course I layed t-shirts on the car to protect from overspray.

I used semi-flat black. Shiny black looked even more 'plastic' than the chromy one, to me. Flat black looked gray.

Carefully cleaned the pony with alcohol, brushed on the paint. It looks good after more than six months.

you can buy badges that either replace the whole pony or are a decal over the pony too. the guy down the block replaced his emblem with a pony thatlooks like flames.
