thankful no one was hurt, sorry about your loss.

Seems mighty suspicious. that's like spontaneous combustion. In all my years I have only heard of one thing starting up like that: a painter had left rags from a varnishing job piled together, and the chemical reaction and fumes were of the condition where they generated enough heat to light-up.

All kinds of wierd sht has to happen to result in what happened to you without the aid of someone else. I think.

Brake fluid is very flamable. If it was purposly set then hope the ones responsible get caught. Again glad no one was hurt.

was it a stick? i'll take the 3.55 geared rear end off your hands[8D]
Trying to make out on someone elses misfortune.
The insurance company will most likely get the
burned carcass and would not like it if it came
minus the rear end.

Its all good here....

Statistically speaking, its near impossible that its a defect. If this is the ONE NIGHT you park it outside, and its the one time that it catches on fire - that is too highly unlikely of acoincedence.

Sorry about your loss. There was a recall on my 2003 Ford Escape about the ABS could start on fire with the car just setting. There was a problem with the wire connector that would ark and start the fire. You should check with Ford to see if this could be a problem with the Mustangs now. Again, soory to hear about your loss.

I guess it's time to set up a closed circuit camera to monitor your property. Do that before you leave another car outside.
It was probably a crime of opportunity, probably by a local, so see if any of your neighbors have cameras that were recording at that time of night.
+1 on the camera and DVR.
I had to set up my place like a bank with 4 cams to keep the redneck neighbors
at bay. Audio also. They knew I had cameras when they moved in and it made them very
upset for some reason. Law breakers. They kicked my new Zuma Scooter over before I got
my stang (what an upgrade in transportataion) and I came home to it on its side. Called
the cops and replayed the video for him. Copied it to VHS and he took a copy along
with my complaint. Rubbed the neighbors the wrong way big time when the cops
showed up and hauled one of them off. Now they REALLY hate me but whats
a guy to do. Got em thinking they cant even get within 5 feet of my stang by
using the remote panic button to set off the horns (6 of them) when they got too
close a few times chasing ***** and such into my yard and now they believe I
have aperimeter alarms and such on the stang. The electric fence charger on the ol
stang keeps them at bay also. A few bad apples is all it takes.

12V arcing from a connector?
Only in a Ford TSB.
12V doers not just jump insulation and arc.
It can only short out. Seems fishy to me.

I'm with ohnoesaz The odds are stacked against chance on this one. You move it outside and then it goes up? Possible but very unlikely.
Remember, you don't have to have enemies to get reamed in this life, low lives are cruising on every street cornaer pretty much.

My insurance agent made me cringe when I was setting up our car/house insurance. "Oh, you live in a nice area, you won't have any trouble"

Where does she think burglars and thieves go to steal/damage nice stuff?
