Default What tire pressure should I be using ?

Hey guys, I switched to 18x9s, 255/45 in the front and 18x10s, 285/40 in the rears. Im not really sure what tire pressure to run. How do you know what to run ? The car had stock 17s but that was a long time ago. Thanks

It's printed on the side of the tire. Run the low end for daily driving.

I usually run 35, but went up to 38 for my trip across the 115* desert.

actually only the max is printed on the side of the tire.. as far as what you should run, in most cars we fill em up to 32, trucks 35.. performance cars differ, from being 33, to 39 in the rear.. all depends.. for us, bc we want to grab, (depending on how much playing aroudn you do, or more of just driving) i would say 30 in the rear for someone that plays alot.. if you only drive to work and back then i would say 35 all day long..

i run a 295/45/18 and have it at 35.. only bc thats what i set it at 2 weeks ago when i put them all on.. but i think im going to drop them to 30.. maybe 28..

as far as the fronts.. i would say 32..

any more questions, PM for a quick answer, i work at discount tire, so im sure i can help you

Take note that some lower profile tires take more psi to = the load capacity of the origional tire.

Example the OE 235/55/17 at 32 psi has a load capacity of 1587lbs
the replacement 255/45/18 at 32 psi has a load capacity of 1367
The rear 285/40/18 at 32 psi has a load capacity of 1510

Now this is a standard load tire, some come in extra loads which the #'s change.

Discount Tire should be looking at door placards for proper psi. Not just a general # for cars, and a general # for trucks.
Gtstang that 295 at 35 psi has a nice hefty load rating of 1753. You could safley run that tire at 26 if you wanted to. (1587lbs)

Any questions feel free to pm me also. Working for Goodyear for 17 years.

Are you saying lower the tire pressure for better grip? When I lowered the tire from 40 to 35 it
felt mushy. The max tire pressure on the KDW P255/45 ZR18 is 51, max load of 1709.
Where should I really be?

I have a question about tire psi at the track.

If im using stock tires at the track 234/55/17 what should I have my psi at?

Also if im running MTs DRs at the track 275/40/17 what should I have my psi at?

I'm with Stoenr on this one, you should be running the pressure that shows on the door pillar.

Its really trial and error on the stockers from what Ive seen. Bump the fronts to 40, and rears maybe to 26.
On the MT's I would suggest 15+ then trial and error them down a lb. each run until you find your sweet spot.
I run 13-14 psi in my DR's
