Default Getting impatient.......

Hello all.....

Just wanted a moment to vent....

Took my car into the body shop JULY 4th to get a makeover done with the body.......Cervini C-series install.

Went to see the car yesterday? And??

Well, we have a torn apart Mustang
we have a few sanded parts
we have some painted side skirts sitting in the floor
we have nothing installed
we have no stripes painted........
we have one irate woman.

I am unsure of what is going on here......maybe he is taking some advantage or is it just me?

I even waited 3 weeks before taking the car in as I wanted him to have **time** for the car and not be working on a bunch of projects at once.

Sorry to be a complainer, just getting a little concerned.....

Unfortunately in automotive business, often times women and teenagers are not takentoo seriously.
Sorry to hear that. Did they originallygive you any timeline? If so and if they are behind quite a bit: raise hell! It just might not only speed the process up, but also get some $$ off.
Good luck

so he's only had the car for about 9 - 10 business
days.....i think it's fine, be patient.

if you push the shop, you may end up with a less then
perfect result and that is not what you are after

Yes, I agree. I didn't say anything to him about the time he has had the car, but after coming home and thinking about it--I feel like he might think I am a pushover.

I do want the car done right. When we originally talked about the job, the time frame of "3 weeks" was what was discussed.

I just can't see everything pulled together in one more week. I guess it just burns me to see it sitting there all torn apart and not seeing much progress.

Patience is a virtue, eh? [sm=bangbang.gif] s ~

Was just the side skirts painted? If so I say red flag,Because they should spray the kit in whole at
one time.Tells us whats all painted.

Yes, only side skirts painted.....

and another thing I thought was odd.......he is painting it piece-by-piece.

I did see examples of his work prior to choosing this dude. I had been looking for someone about 4 months before choosing him-----
1. 20 years experience
2. nice body shop (clean, updated, large bays, seems
busy)
3. appeared to take a lot of pride in his work

Personally saw some repair jobs on a 07 Mustang Cal Spec and a 06 Porsche 911 Turbo....so I assumed I was safe....??

Better be done right or his Dodge Ram Daytona edition is coming home with me!

I would make sure to double check the price and "labour hours"

I've had several C-500's built for customers while I was selling Fords, and unfortunately, the C-500 kit is very labor intensive. I would say allow him about 4-6 weeks to finish everything depending on how busy he is - I'm assuming he's not just slacking off and is actually running a shop that stays busy?

Keep in mind, if this is a body shop that also does general body repair for insurance claims, those insurance companies can be a real PITA to the shop. They can threaten to pull business if cars aren't completed on time (the longer their repairs take, the more rental fees they have to cover for their clients). If you're comfortable with the quality of his work, then just be patient - difficult, but it'll be worth it. I attached a picture of one of the Cervinis I had built...

...also, make sure he knows to clean the pieces and do an epoxy primer, otherwise all that nice paint WILL peel off in sheets!!
