Alpine IVA-W205 & Lorex SG4933R rear camera install (w/pics)
Since we are on the subject of stereo stuff does anyone know if Crutchfield has a low price garauntee...Those guys aren't exactly the cheapest place on Earth. But they do have pretty good customer service
If i'm installing another brand of a DVD player in my car do I still need to get the: PAC TR7 Universal. Trigger Module ?
Or is this only for your Alpine?

I'm glad you brought this thread back up Daniel. Since I just purchased a new H/U and now I don't have to go searching for the voltage regulator number on the site now.
TacoBill, just a small question of the procedure. In your write up you said:
Which three wires need to be soldered to the output of the voltage regulator? And also, is the Y adapter needed for the subs for any wiring harness or just the Alpine units?
I'm replacing my Shaker 500 with a Kenwood DNX7100 DVD/NAV system. Hopefully it will get here sometime next week. Since I have an 80GB Video Ipod I didn't really see the need for the 30GB hard drive in the Avic Z-2. Though I do kinda hate giving up the picture of the layout of the buildings that the Z-2 does. But if the nav is as accurate as everyone says then I'll get over it. Especially for a $400 difference in price. I just wish Kenwood put in a larger drive for their map software.

Voltage Regulator wiring:
INPUT: to wire 28 of Alpine harness
GROUND: splice to black chassis ground on Alpine harness
OUTPUT: splice to both Blue/White wires on smaller Metra harness (wire all 3 wires together)

I also have links to part 2 and 3 (Lorex back up cam and Pioneer speaker install) if you want them, just LMK.
Thanks for the link TacoBill. That clears that up.Your dad did a great job on the write up and now you have some competition as write ups go.
And links to the rest of his articles would be great. I would love to see what else he did and how he did it. I won't be upgrading the factory speakers and amps anytime soon but I'm sure I will sometime down the line.
It's interesting that your dad hooked the illumination wire up to the hazard lights. I wonder how in the world that works for switching between night and day modes of the display. But hey, if it works it works.
I noticed your dad used the P.I.E. KNW/USB-AV instead of the Kenwood cable. Is there any particular reason he went with the P.I.E. KNW/USB-AV over the Kenwood cable and does he still have the ability to play videos through his Ipod?
And how does he like the DNX7100?

I have no idea of he likes the Kenwwod, but I'm betting he loves it with all those features it has.
Thanks TacoBill for your prompt response!
I had purchased some "cheap" H/U from Fry's Electronics. And I HATE IT!!
The software installed sucks, I won't remember the stations programmed and it isn't flush. So I decided I'm going to get the Alpine you have. A friend of mine has it and it's soooo much better. So I'll be returning this H/U today or tomorrow and buying the Alpine sometime this week, I'm sure i'll have some questions in the near future but this write up looks just perfect! Thanks again
